Are There Situations In Which I Will Not Be Permitted To Use The Flotation Tank?
We will not allow you to float if you:
- Have infectious skin or respiratory disorders
- Have open wounds or recent tattoos
- Have incontinence
- Have uncontrolled epilepsy or serious mental conditions
- Are a high-risk pregnancy
- Have colored or permed your hair within 7 days
- Are under the influence of any drug or alcohol
- Are currently menstruating and unable to use an internal method of a barrier such as a tampon or cup.
- Kidney Disease (as kidneys are responsible for processing Magnesium which is present in Epson Salt)
- Are under 18 without parental presence
We expect you to inform us of any conditions for your own safety and the safety of other floaters! We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at any time.
Will My Skin Get Wrinkly?
No. The high Epsom salt content of the water means that the water will not draw the salt from your skin and cause wrinkles like a long bath does. Epsom salt has been used for centuries as a medicinal treatment for various skin conditions. It is non-toxic and is not harmful if swallowed (although it does not taste good!). Epsom salt is actually quite nourishing for the skin, which is why many people feel silky smooth after their float session.
I'm Pregnant. Can Floating Harm My Baby?
Absolutely not. In fact, pregnant women probably get more relief from the float tank than anyone else. Just lying on a bed can be extremely uncomfortable for a woman in the later stages of pregnancy due to the massive gravitational strain placed on the body. The float tank is a wonderful haven for pregnant women. We do, however, recommend that pregnant women avoid floating during the first trimester. If you have any concerns about the effects of floating on your pregnancy, we ask you to consult and get permission from your physician before you float.
Why Use A Float Pod?
The more you float, the better it gets. Each pod experience is different and unique. You will receive increased benefits with each session.
What Effects Does Floating Have On Your Mind?
Normally we are in a Beta wave state indicated by a faster brain frequency. After about 20-30 minutes of being in the pod our brains shift from the faster wave state to the slower or lower frequency Theta Wave state. Theta waves have been associated with deeper relaxation mentally and physically, meditation, spiritual awareness, reduction in stress and anxiety, higher levels of creativity, increased learning ability and improved long-term memory. As you relax deeper into Theta Waves it is possible to have lucid states even euphoric or nirvana type moments are possible. These are rare and only happen in a very small percent of the population. Try not to force these states to happen, stay calm, relax and breath. If you happen to have one, congratulations!
What Effects Does Floating Have On Your Body?
Increased blood circulation. The near weightless state of floating allows muscles and joints to relax and the increased blood flow. Results from this helps to repair muscle tissues, especially beneficial for those with chronic pain and injuries. Increased healing time. Pain management, floating has been shown to ease conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia and migraines. Increased immune system with the low gravity state of floating the body has time to rest and repair and gives the immune system an opportunity to speed up and strengthen the immune response.
Is Floating Successful For Everyone?
As with any of our services, floating is not suited for everyone. It take a willingness on the individuals part to let go, relax and see what happens. It is not uncommon to take a few floats before you are able to complexly relax, both mentally and physically. Depending on where you are in your own life's journey, a float may provide a wonderful healing experience both physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Even those who are claustrophobic are typically able to float. If medically able, we recommend everyone try a float at least once.
Who Should Not Use Try Float?
We do not recommend use of the pods for epileptics whose epilepsy is not under medical control, anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs, for those with infectious diseases and open skin wounds. Those with incontinence issues, kidney disease, recently dyed hair and those under 18 without parental consent.
Can Pregnant Women Float?
Yes. We suggest pregnant women get the opinions of their physicians or midwives before floating. Especially those who have other medical issues or high-risk pregnancies. High praise for floating has come from pregnant women as they experience great relief from the pull of gravity.
Can I Float While Menstruating?
Yes, as long as there is a form of a barrier such as a tampon or cup.
