Lash Extensions Frequently Asked Questions
Will extensions ruin my natural lashes?
Short answer, no. We strive to calculate the weight of the lashes to what your natural lashes can handle. If the lashes are overweight over time the lashes can break, bend, or change shape. Our trained staff will put into account your natural length and width to recommend the best and safest design for your lashes. This may mean that the design you want to achieve may not be an option for you, and this will be discussed in the design consultation. We always recommend using a lash serum to keep your lashes strong and healthy while having your extensions.
What are lash extensions?
We use a faux mink lash in a one-to-one ratio on classic lashes, or a multiple-to-one for volume lashes. These will give very different looks to the client. We attach them with a medical grade adhesive with low fume, as well as latex and formaldehyde free.
How long do they last?
Generally as your lashes naturally shed, fills to your lash extension will be about every 2-3 weeks. Some clients with more naturally sparse lashes will need to come in more frequently as it is easier to see the gaps as the lashes shed. It is normal to shed 10 or so lashes per day. If a lash falls out, we want to see that there is a natural lash attached, this is a normal shed. If you see extensions falling off with no natural lash, this could be due to oil breaking the adhesive down prematurely, rubbing, plucking, friction, or excessive watering from allergies, crying, or dry eye.
Can I wear makeup with lash extensions?
Yes. Although we do not recommend wearing mascara on volume lashes. Adding mascara can add additional weight and that can affect the lift of the lashes. If you are wanting to wear makeup, we suggest only using Lash Extensions safe makeup such as our Xtreme Lash Makeup products and cleansers. Offered in Mascara, liners, shadows, and under eye concealers.
Can I wash or get my lash extensions wet?
YES! Please wait 24 hours after your service to get them wet, this includes showers and crying. Use an oil free lash friendly cleanser (check with your esthetician for one available in the spa) when washing your lashes. Shower time is a great time to rinse them off as well.
Can I swim with lash extensions?
Yes, we would suggest wearing goggles. Chlorine in pools can dry out the lashes, lakes and streams have all sorts… gross things… you don’t want to get in your lashes. If you do go swimming without goggles, make sure to wash them thoroughly right after you get out of the water with fresh, clean water and an extension friendly cleanser.
How do I sleep with lash extensions?
The best way is to sleep on your back. When you wake up, your lashes may need a light brushing to fluff them back up. If you want to add some extra protection, you can sleep with a 3D contoured sleep mask. It will keep your lashes from getting tangled and smashed while sleeping. Will cleaning my lashes make them fall out faster?
NO! Proper cleaning of your lashes will protect your eyelids from lash mites, blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelid) and premature lash fallout. If they are not cleaned regularly, makeup, skin oil and debris will build up on your lash line which can weaken the adhesive bond to your natural lashes which can cause them to fall off faster.
